Optimal

Its super easy to use, just move the Wallpaper you want to use into the Icon at the Menu Bar, and then click the Icon the Picture will appear on the Desktop and hide the Icons Used Mountain Lion

No Way to Quit!

I had to use Activity Monitor to quit this app. There was no menu, or obvious way to quit.

Great App!!!

Does exactly what it says. Nice way to hide that clutter, i like how it doesnt move any files so you can get to any of your files if you need to quickly. When you click and hold the icon you get the quit option.

Not quiet what I expected

I expected that this would clear my desktop but it just covers it with a custom picture . Now If you have changing background , you will be confused . when you activate this app , its now your desktop youre watching , its a fullscreen picture but you can see dock and status bar ! not what I expected

Exactly what I was looking for!

This little free app is perfect for hiding screen contents from prying eyes at Christmas time if one is either shopping or researching Christmas Presents etc. online. One little click on the icon up top and any picture you save to the program pops in and covers your screen. Also good if you just want to tidy up your desktop screen.

Great app!

So great application!

Simple app, works great

Does what it says, very simple to use. Makes it easy to hide your desktop under whatever photo you like. You dont need to see all of those directories and files you stuck on your desktop "Just for now" :-). Great idea!

What I shouldve had for all these years

My desktop is always cluttered with files. Thats why this app is excellent; I dont want to see those files when Im working, but I dont want to spend my time organizing them. Its already well made with version 1.0. I should recommend this to my colleagues. The great thing about this app is that its very simple. Just click the leaf in the menu bar, and it just works. You can even chose a wallpaper of your choice to cover the desktop. Here are some features that could be added in the future: -the menu bar could sync its color with the wallpaper chosen to cover the desktop -the user could chose a folder for Shade to randomly pick images from every time it hides the desktop As of now, dont think and just download it! Its a great app.

Cool app. Needs multi-monitor support though.

5 stars if it gets multi-monitor support :)

Works great!

Really simple to use and just what I was looking for.

OMGG Love It!

I loveee this app. Im OCD so this is perfect for me.

OMG. I luv it!

Ive never used a wallpaper before. As a graphics professional, Ive kept a plain, mid-gray desktop for years. This cheeky little app allows me to "skin" my desktop and remove that skin with a click of the mouse. Sweet.

Works great

This is actually the first review I have done on an app on the mac store. Sometime I just want to declutter and focus on something. This works fantastically for cleaning the desktop without losing files. Plus you can think of it as having 2 wallpapers. For me I have a nerdtastic background when I am programming with friends, but if I am at the coffee shop and want to look sophisticated I turn on my shade background!!

pretty straight forward

this is an app that should hae been out :o well at least i have it now :D

Works Perfectly!

This app is awesome. However, Id like a picture for each of the spaces I have. Currently one picture for all spaces is kinda messed since I place different wallpaper for each.

Alright

Needs multimonitor support. RIght clicking the icon does nothing. Doesnt change the color of the menu bar. Id like to be able to turn off the animation.

Problem

When I drag a photo to the icon it wont use the pic when I click the icon. Im running Mountain Lion 10.8 .

Needs some small touches

First: This app is good. Get it. However, its not perfect yet. Shade will get a 5-star rating from me after it handles the transleucent menu bar. It continues showing the previous wallpaper image beneath it even after the Shade gets pulled down. I can think of two ways to fix this (from a code standpoint), and one of them is easy.

Awesome, But Not With Hot Corners

This absolutely does what it says, and its simple to customize and use. My problem is that I use hot corners to look at all my open windows and to view just the desktop. Hot corners move the shade, too. I guess thats useful because its allowing me to get to my desktop, but the only time I SEE the clutter on my desktop is when Im engaging hot corners for a second or two. (Does that make me a clutterer in the extreme?) Ill keep fooling around with this because I love the idea.

One of the Best Apps I Have Loaded

I cannot say how amazingly easy this app is to use and how it has streamlined my workflow. One click and you are done when you want to hide your desktop folders. I do online meetings via Webex for clients and in one click, I can have a clean desktop for them to see. LOVE IT! Best Part? ITS FREE!!!!!
